THE LEVINS: Harmony- Driven Contemporary Folk
The Levins (pronounced LeVINNs) are a NY-based, nationally and internationally touring acoustic duo known for sun-splashed, peace-filled music that connects on a universal level with lighthearted depth.Ira Levin and Julia Bordenaro Levin—together known professionally, and personally, as The Levins—bridge communities with their infectious musicality, uplifting the socially-conscious, the spiritual, weary and often, the cynical.
There is a signature aesthetic coursing through The Levins’ 4 studio albums. This includes sharp songwriting skills, adventurous musicality, and a unique approach to vocal harmonies where the pair weave in and out of each other in fresh intervallic combinations that are both soulful and unexpected. The duo’s gorgeous harmony interlace is perched on a rich bed of guitar and piano instrumentation often delicately adorned with strings and percussion. Tracks by The Levins would fit snuggly on playlists alongside songs by The Weepies, Cat Stevens, Simon & Garfunkel, Iron & Wine, Sufjan Stevens, Fleet Foxes, and Patty Griffin.
Whether sharing with their music and presentations in secular or sacred settings; in traditional music venues to meditation festivals, in schools for kids with special needs or camps for kids with cancer, presenting and performing at the Parliament of World Religions or co-producing a full scale multi-disciplinary theater production based on their album, My Friend Hafiz, that incorporates physical and visual artforms, music and poetry and the message of forgiveness and unconditional love.
